Hello All,

I hope this message finds you well. I am a PMP in good standing since 1999.

I recently worked for MonetaGo India Private Limited, where I was promoted from "Vice President - Client Services" to "Technical Product Director" in May 2022. MonetaGo's plan was to establish a development center in India. However, plans changed, and the company decided to set up the center in Singapore instead. As a result, I resigned, with my last working day being December 23, 2022.

In 2023, I dedicated myself to enhancing my skills and completed the following certifications:

Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate
Smart Contract Audit Training
Certified Ethical Hacker

Despite my efforts, I have yet to secure a new position. At 58 years old, I bring a wealth of experience and a strong eagerness to contribute to the industry.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or leads for job openings where I can apply my expertise and passion.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards
Sachin Bal

What are you interested in doing in terms of activities or roles? Rather than pursue a technical hands-on type position, you might be better served leveraging your years of leadership experience to a management role of some type, perhaps an advisory position with a startup or a small company looking to grow?

How flexible are you about relocation as that might be one way to expand options?

Hi Kiron,

Thank you for your response. I am open to any role and willing to explore relocation opportunities as well.

Regarding LinkedIn: Most of the openings on LinkedIn require 10-15 years of experience, sometimes even 20 years. I understand if I do not receive responses from these companies since I have over 30 years of experience. Additionally, some positions require technologies that I haven't worked with recently, which can be another hurdle. However, I am open to working with any technology, particularly in a project/program manager role.

One of my areas of interest is the cybersecurity domain. I have earned certifications in Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking to further my knowledge in this field.

I am also interested in getting involved with not-for-profit organizations that genuinely carry out programs benefiting the public.

For instance, in November 2022, I was in touch with a company providing assisted living facilities for elders. They planned to establish a new center away from the city, and we discussed the possibility of me leading the project. Although the initial discussions were promising, the company advisors were not convinced that I could manage the project successfully, so my involvement ended.

I hope I have conveyed my thoughts clearly.

Sachin, I would have the same questions as Kiron's so if you can elaborate more, we could probably provide more valuable advise. In general, I do find LinkedIn to be excellent for job search.

This is where the dilemma comes - do you pursue what you are interested in but might not be competitive, especially against folks who have focused on cybersecurity their whole careers, or do you play to your strengths and seek out roles where you can act as a trusted advisor to fledgling leadership teams?

Whereas large sized recruitment firms and online job sites are good for those earlier in their career or those who have hot skills, in your case you will be much better served by leveraging your network to locate opportunities.
