Validating and checking outputs is critical when working with AI systems like Generative AI. Such validation approaches may include establishing clear criteria, implementing strong testing protocols, and continuous refinement.

In your experience with AI, what are some best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals?

Define your goal clearly – Be specific about what you want from the AI
Use precise prompts – Frame your request with enough context, constraints, or examples so the AI understands what’s important.
Validate outputs – Cross-check AI results against trusted sources, standards, or your own expertise before using them.Use your subject-matter expertise to validate, tweak, or combine AI-generated ideas.
Iterate and refine – Don’t accept the first response blindly. Adjust prompts, ask follow-up questions, or request alternatives.
Stay critical – Treat AI outputs as suggestions, not final answers. Look for gaps, inconsistencies, or bias.
Keep context in control – AI may generalize; make sure the output fits your specific organization, industry, or project environment.

What I usually do is I start a prompt and I try to be specific as mcuh as possible. This way, The AI would have more focus on what I am looking for.

But sometimes, I just have a generic knowledge about something, and I take the responses as a chance to learn the new subject.

Clearly define the need and criteria, ask for step by step explanations, and verify the information with trusted or cross -checked sources.
Best practices I follow when using AI systems:

1. Start with a clear problem statement and defined goal.

2. Use precise and well-structured prompts.

3. Refine responses iteratively instead of relying on one output.

4. Validate AI results against project data and SME inputs.

5. Keep human judgment and accountability at the center.

6. Ensure outputs align with project context and stakeholder expectations.

Being super direct about the information that I am seeking.

Implementing responsible AI practices helps me add value by ensuring that the technology I develop or use is ethical, transparent, and accountable. By prioritizing fairness, privacy, and safety, I can build trust with users, reduce potential risks, and create solutions that are both effective and socially responsible. This approach allows me to leverage AI in a way that benefits people and organizations while maintaining integrity and long-term sustainability.

My number one thing to do would be validating what's entered and provided back.

To obtain the most accurate response, a precise request formulation with clarifications, examples, and the desired response format are to be required. The received responses must be checked for accuracy and applicability, and validated by the Project Manager. If the response is inconsistent, a clarifying request must be submitted and the result must also be verified for consistency.

A step in the right direction is to assemble your team/SME's and share the feedback you received after the first few iterations.

To input this new information can allow you to gauge it's accuracy.
