Validating and checking outputs is critical when working with AI systems like Generative AI. Such validation approaches may include establishing clear criteria, implementing strong testing protocols, and continuous refinement.

In your experience with AI, what are some best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals?

He should be used for simple tasks first, which do not require intense concentration.
Then move on to a more complex phase, comparing the results with what has been studied in practice or achieved in the project or practical life.
Then we will learn how to rely on him and the extent to which his decisions and outputs can be trusted.

Using AI systems is good tool to measure and control your progress and give you indicator to correct any mistake. Also, we should find best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals. I believe AI is updated everyday and we should be flexible to try many new application that improve your control and reach your goals.

Like with any new tool, you need to test the results before you scale up.

Think about if you were to manually model a very complex problem in a spreadsheet. You don't build all the links and formulas first and then evaluate your final output. You build and test sections of the bigger solution first and then add on layers once you have validated the functionality.
Best Practices for Using AI Effectively : Set clear goals, Know what you want from the AI.Use specific prompts, Provide detailed and focused input. Iterate as needed, Refine prompts to improve results.Fact-check outputs, Validate with trusted sources. Apply human judgment, Don’t rely solely on AI. Define success criteria, Know what a “good” result looks like. Watch for errors, AI can make mistakes.

Long story cut short, we should make it a default practice to use the CREATE formula for prompts, so that we receive accurate, relevant, results those are aligned with your original goals. Now to understand CREATE, here you go :

C – Character Specify the role or persona you want the AI to adopt. For example, instructing the AI to behave as “a seasoned financial advisor,” “a thoughtful mentor,” or “a creative storyteller” provides a framework for tone and perspective.

R – Request Clearly articulate the core task or question. Describe exactly what you’re looking to get as a result—for instance, “summarize this report,” “draft an email invitation,” or “develop a marketing plan.”

E – Examples Provide one or more examples to illustrate the kind of response you expect. Examples can include sample phrases, formatting styles, or even a brief sketch of the answer. This helps guide the AI by showing it an ideal output structure or tone. For instance, if you want a list of bullet points, showing one or two example points can be very useful.

A – Adjustments Include any specific modifications you desire regarding style, tone, or detail. This might involve setting constraints (such as “avoid technical jargon,” “use a formal tone,” or “keep it under 150 words”) or asking for additional elements like a summary or actionable recommendations.

T – Type (Template) Specify the format or structure in which you want the answer. Whether it’s a step-by-step guide, bullet points, a table, a narrative, or even a code snippet—the clearer you are about the format, the better the final output will align with your needs.

E – Evaluation Instruct the AI to review or “evaluate” its output against your original goals. This step can include asking it to verify that all parts of the prompt have been addressed or to provide a short self-assessment of how well the answer meets your specifications. For example, you might say, “After generating the response, please assess if it meets the criteria mentioned above and note any areas of uncertainty.”

By using the CREATE formula in this way, you guide the AI through a focused process—from setting the persona to providing examples and requesting a review of the final answer—thereby enhancing clarity, relevance, and overall quality. This framework is particularly useful when crafting complex prompts where precise output format and tone are important.

Using AI tools should be informed by examples and reliable and accurate data. Outputs must also be reviewed and reveised as appropriate.

AI was very helpful when I had an issue with assigning copyrighted class material to my students. I had to provide the name of the class, clear description of the issue, define myself as a professor and specify the error message my students were receiving.

When using AI systems, what are some best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals?

Be Specific. provided context around the goal or output. Use a proper communication method to ask AI for results. Avoid jargon or explain it. Stay concise.

When using AI systems at work, it’s important to define clear goals and provide specific prompts to get accurate and relevant results. Always review the output critically, verify key data with trusted sources, and refine your inputs when needed. Remember that AI can be helpful, but it should complement—never replace—professional judgment.

It's good practice to ask AI to show or provide a reference to your material. Perform a prompt to validate your response.
