Validating and checking outputs is critical when working with AI systems like Generative AI. Such validation approaches may include establishing clear criteria, implementing strong testing protocols, and continuous refinement.

In your experience with AI, what are some best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals?

Provide sufficient context, don't rely on AI assumptions, reread your prompt and clarify, iterate and keep refining your prompt.

1. Providing specific and clear query, along with a context.
2. Providing relevant data and expectations for a desired result output
3. Cross-validating results with hands-on available data
4. Having them reviewed by relevant stakeholders

The recent improvements of AI after billions of iterations from the public launch of OpenAI has strengthened its results and capabilities. However, it has also increase the necessity of better prompts to achieve desired goals. In my personal experience, adapting my prompts to CREATE on more advanced requests has helped me narrow my scope to my specific needs and prepare a better risk assessment. On the other hand, I have shortened time consumption by teaching my team how to be more efficient using RTF instead of more advance prompts for easy requests.

Proper distinction of which framework aligns greater with your own requirements are clever for prompt engineering.

I would summarize it in continuous refinement. This is key to ensure that the final output is aligned to the specifics of your situation.

Additionally to the excellent points made, my suggestion would be to emphasize the critical importance of ensuring the user/requester possesses, or actively earns, at least fundamental knowledge in the specific area/domain before asking AI systems to assist with important or high-risk tasks.

While leveraging SMEs for final validation is key (as many have pointed out), having that foundational domain understanding yourself when interacting with the AI - crafting prompts, interpreting initial outputs, and guiding iterations - can be the difference between a theoretically "good" AI output and a practically applicable one. This is especially true when the AI is tasked with generating content that requires nuanced understanding or has significant downstream implications.

That is a fundamental question is using AI.
The best practices to ensure accurate and relevant results aligned with the original goal would include designing your prompts to be specific and with clear context and always test, evaluate and verify the results against pre-set standards and criteria (Subject matter experts are vital).

I agree with all of these great responses. I continue to learn in this area and am spending time to validate the data that's returned. That is always good practice but in the early stages, it is wise to spend extra time to ensure the data is valid, appropriate and clean.

It's very difficult to check that all answers from AI are accurate for the goal of my project. In my opinion a good approach is to verify that my prompt is clear and detailed for what I need in my project. If necessary update prompt adding more information to be sure that all the necessary answers are good and accurate for my project.
