Esin, EI plays a pivotal role in Change Management as it helps you understand stakeholders emotions, manage resistance, facilitate communications, and most importantly adapt to unexpected changes as change processes are rarely linear, and unexpected challenges or setbacks can arise.

Every quadrant of Goleman's EI model applies to change. When we are dealing with others and their reactions to change, self-awareness and self-management are important to ensure that we don't let our emotions control us when facing resistance, and similarly, the quadrants related to others are necessary to help us understand what others are going through and to establish positive relationships with them as we guide them through the change.

None if is taking in a isolation. My recommendation is taking this type of things from systemic perpective and as I wrote in a paper which was widely cited for many years (good for me because the only thing I was looking for when publishing it was to learn from everyone's feedback): Newton´s Laws explain the organizational change.

Most people are uncomfortable with change. Project managers are in the business of making change happen. Change Management is therefor the official process of approving changes that will make most people uncomfortable.

Emotional intelligence is critical to get through the change management process and help people move forward from the current state of things, to a preferred state. Most of the time, figuring out the right plan from a logical perspective is a lot easier than getting people to get onboard with making a change that affects their daily lives.

Esin,
Please review Prosci's article on the role of change agents in driving transformation in large organizational environments.

(A change agent acts as a catalyst for change to improve systems, processes, culture, and other outcomes):

Empathy and EQ – "Empathy allows change agents to perceive and understand the anxieties that change provokes. Emotional Intelligence (EI) enables them to manage resistance behaviors and alleviate stress while creating a more supportive environment."
