Hello everyone, I hold a CAPM certification and work as a project control engineer at the moment. My certification will expire in February 2024. I have worked for 3.4 years in total. At this point in my career, is it wise to pick PMP, or should I wait two more years and take PMP? Is there anyone who could advise me on this?

Kalidas -

If you have gained sufficient project leadership experience to meet the experiential requirements and have already achieved the educational ones, I'd suggest going for the PMP as it might be the difference between getting an interview and not getting one. If you aren't actively job hunting or expecting to change jobs in the near term, you could wait till you gain more experience.

Kalidas K R I agree with Kiron to proceed with PMP, yet I suggest getting certified earlier rather than waiting until the last minute. Opportunities are for those who always prepare.

Since you have a University Degree, you comply with the requisite of 3 years of professional experience participating in projects, which is needed for PMP.
The experience you acquired is the basis for initiating the road to get your PMP credential. You should consider to start your preparation for the exam.

I recommend Rita Mulcahy's certification prep, it's a good option to acquire PM Knowledge at your own pace and is updated to the latest exam. Visit this link:

I think that if you gained the necessary experience you could go for the PMP. It is good to try the tools to simulate the exam, to go in depth in the ECO of the exam and to study all the resources indicated on the PMI website
