With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

I am finding that as I use the GEN AI tools, my prompts are getting better results but seems to be mostly with more experience. Still don't have enough time "behind the AI wheel" to consider myself an expert, still learning.

I am only beginning to look at AI and its benefits. I have no example of prompts or workflows I have created because I am that new to the environment. I do, however, look forward to learning more about AI tools and how to implement them in practice

In my experience giving the role and context, examples and data to work with delivers quite great results. Sergio has widened my scope of knowledge from two frame works to several others I will test. When I was crafting tests for my PMP exam on infinity, I had to specify the topics and further prompt infinity to provide answers, I later tasked it to provide me objectives and Mark my scores, with every improvement of iteration it became much better.

Adding specific context, examples, or constraints typically transforms vague responses into precisely targeted results. For instance, specifying format requirements, tone, audience, or desired depth often shifts outputs from generic to highly relevant and actionable content that better serves the intended purpose.

In my view with Generative AI, the quality of the prompt directly shapes the quality of the output by Refining , iterating and adding contraints gives better results.

Refining a prompt, gives better results with each iteration. These iterations have also help me improve my prompt engineering skills that deliver what I wanted on the first or third entry.

When I refine my prompt with more context and details, the output became clearer, more relevant, and directly usable.

Improving the AI suggestions significantly improved the final result during the development of a customized table. At each step, the AI suggested a table result that was the closest to the desired format, and ultimately, we ended up with a table that fully met my requirements. It was a great experience.

LLM engine can easily go off the conversation... being specific and refining the prompt help set the conversation context even better.
In my experience with GenAI, refining prompts has drastically changed the output quality:

1. Before refining – I asked broad prompts like “summarize project risks” and received very generic responses.

2. After refining – I added context, audience, and format, e.g., “summarize the top 3 schedule risks with mitigation strategies in bullet points for senior leadership.”

3. Impact – The outputs became sharper, more relevant, and directly aligned with my project goals.

This reinforced the principle that better inputs drive better AI outputs.
