With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

In my work experience in the Contractor field, I used to have a preliminary comparison between suppliers during the evaluation stage, after re-act and refine the results changed dramatically by just changing the source of the product, ISO certificates, and Inspection requirements
At the end, I need to review the results carefully before submitting an evaluation report, but as a summary and preliminary report, AI report is just fare enough.

for a complex tasks, which involves huge amount of details, its better to go for iterative prompt techniques. Reason is large amount of data can confuse the LLM to comprehend and extract the vital information within that prompt. So its better to go for iterative technique and refine the prompt gradually on the basis of responses.

Refining a prompt has greatly improved output quality in Generative AI applications for my civil engineering and project management work. Clear, specific prompts aligned with project requirements consistently produce more accurate, code-compliant, and decision-ready results that support PMI standards and reduce rework.

Providing clear context and continuously refining our approach are fundamental to achieving meaningful outcomes. When initial results fall short of expectations, seeking alternative outputs demonstrates a commitment to precision and adaptability. Equally, consistency and perseverance play a decisive role in ensuring that objectives are met with both accuracy and strategic alignment.

My own struggles with prompt engineering have usually revolved around context. Suggesting a persona for the LLM is one thing, but you still need to provide it with a framework to operate within.

Hello Sarah & All,
I will not add more than my expert colleagues have posted earlier, but form my experience with different AI systems I can say that more clarity on what is the goal, the desired outcomes, and provide clear example "attachement" will drastically lead to a big difference on the end result.
