With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

Provides a more accurate response regarding what I was looking for

Providing specificity in subsequent prompts resulted in output more closely aligned with the original task. Refinement also filtered out hallucinations and made editing the final product easier.

My experience so far with refining prompts has been eye opening. The use of specific key words e.g. Role of the A.I. has helped improve the quality and relevance of the response. I think it is also important to breakdown the number of prompt refinement request into steps to allow for more clear, concise and relevant feedback.

Refining the messages significantly improves the Chatbot's responses, while also better training the AI for future responses, creating a refined learning environment that leads to better results.

I have a background as a writer, so I'm oriented to pay attention to language. Prior to taking this class I have noticed—with Google Gemini for example—that it requires granular instruction to provide the desired outcome. In that sense, I've been utilizing the frameworks covered here as well as "chaining" my prompts. The tl;dr? is that it's an iterative process. One that requires a skilled and knowledgeable prompt engineer to execute.

In my experience with GenAI, refining a prompt has changed the output quality, by providing "delivery-ready" outputs that required very little if any adjustments or formatting.

In my experience, refining a prompt is the difference between getting a generic, "Wikipedia-style" summary and a high-precision, actionable asset. Initially, a broad prompt like "write a marketing plan" usually yields surface-level advice that lacks brand voice or strategic depth. However, by applying a iterative refinement framework—adding specific constraints, persona adoption, and few-shot examples—the output quality shifts from a rough draft to a polished final product. For instance, specifying the target audience's pain points and the desired emotional tone can transform a bland paragraph into a compelling narrative that actually resonates with readers. It’s less about "asking" and more about "architecting" the context to minimize hallucinations and maximize relevance.

Increasing specifity and more context leads to more accurate and refined results/output. I am not familiar with the diverse frameworks provided by Sergio Luis Conte; speaking to GenAI engine as I would speak to another human (thus, providing context and sufficient level of detail) provides great outputs.

Agree. Using prompts without specification and clarity bring dismissed results.

Refining a prompt is the opportunity to adjust misunderstandings, verify and correct bias, limit hallucination, and define a more specific result that we are looking for.
