With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

There are framewoks to create prompt. This is part of the Prompt Desing discipline. Those that gave me and the initiatives where I was included are:R-T-F (Role-Task-Format), T-A-G (Task, action, goal), B-A-B (Before, after, bridge), C-A-R-E (context, action, result, example), R-I-S-E (role, input, steps, expectations).
Very helpful information. Thank for sharing.

By refining my prompt, I was able to receive more relevant and accurate responses to my inquiry

Refining a prompt in GenAI can drastically improve output quality by ensuring the AI model clearly understands your intent, leading to more accurate, relevant, and focused responses; essentially, a well-crafted prompt acts as a precise guide, allowing the model to generate outputs closely aligned with your desired outcome, significantly increasing the usefulness of the generated content.

I think it is important to give the context and also to refine, asking for a different output in case that the first one is not completely suitable to our purpose or to the outcome that we were looking for. I think that consistency and preseverance in looking for the result, is crucial as well.
Refining a prompt can significantly impact the output quality in generative AI systems like ChatGPT because the model heavily relies on the clarity, context, and specificity of the input to generate meaningful responses.

Generative AI models predict the next best word/token based on the prompt. A well-crafted prompt reduces ambiguity, making it easier for the model to infer user intent and deliver high-quality results.

Tested this out during learning management system selection for IT Technical support engineers by tailoring to the goals of acquiring the most suitable one produced the expected outcome following the refining approach. I give it to Prompt Engineering.

I personally have not had the opportunity to adjust and refine prompts for an AI tool I have used. But I think it's very important to adjust/refine as you go to ensure the desired output for the AI.

It has absolutely helped to get to something relevant! It is a learning and iterative process to have the right outputs produced and for me to refine the question to something that AI can answer.
