With Generative AI, iteratively refining and optimizing prompts can lead to better AI-generated results. This may involve adjusting the specificity or clarity of the prompt to increase relevance and accuracy of results.

What examples do you have of how improving a prompt drastically changed the output quality?  What specific changes did you make that led to the improvement?

It has provided a completely different answer and result! It is important to make sure to refine your search criteria if the result does not look accurate!

Absolutely, refining a prompt has made a significant difference in the quality of GenAI output. In my experience, even small adjustments like clarifying the context, specifying the desired format, or adding role-based instructions can dramatically improve the relevance and precision of the results.

For example, when generating a project risk summary, a vague prompt returned generic risks. However, when I rephrased it to: "Act as a senior project manager for an IT rollout. List top 5 risks specific to integration with legacy systems, in bullet points with mitigation plans.", the output was not only accurate but directly usable in a stakeholder presentation.

This experience reinforced that prompt engineering is like briefing a smart assistant; the clearer your ask, the better the outcome.

In my experience with GenAI, refining a prompt drastically changed the output quality by providing a more concise response that tailors to the result needed in my project.

In my experience, there's definitely a big improvement when I add more context to my prompt while breaking the tasks down into manageable pieces so as not to overwhelm the task with too much complexity.

With a refined prompt, I have always experienced a better response from LLMs, making it more useful for my project planning and execution.

Our company has a very restrictive AI policy and has only recently granted permission to use Co-Pilot in our daily work, therefore my experience with other LLMs has been limited to personal applications. I hope to incorporate prompt engineering with Co-Pilot into my daily work in the coming days and weeks and see how it goes.
