In response to the escalating threats posed by natural disasters and climate change, regulatory bodies are increasingly implementing stringent building codes aimed at enhancing resilience and mitigating risks within the construction industry. What are the potential ramifications of these emerging building codes on construction projects and the broader built environment?"

In North America, specifically Canada, while stricter building codes can result in long-term cost savings as buildings might require less maintenance and repair over their lifespan and may also be more energy-efficient, thus reducing operational costs, yet, we are seeing significant increase in upfront construction costs as stricter building codes often requires using more resilient materials and construction techniques.

Not sure if the same is applicable in the USA and other parts of the world but would be interested to see other's feedback.

And I'd expect beyond the increased costs, there might be a greater risk of schedule impact due to shortages of these "better" materials due to increased demand or other supply chain challenges.

Kiron, you make a very valid point and while we didn't encounter this so far, yet, it might become the case soon.
