I think the project ITTOs for waterfall approach are too complicated to be used effectively and efficiently. Do you think there is any chance to simplify them? May AI be helpful? How? Thank you.

Xinmei -

Remember that they are a framework and not a methodology - a team has to tailor their approach using those as guidelines within the context of their organization's PM standards and the complexity of their project.

A sufficiently well-trained AI solution might be able to help - for example, one which was trained on the full breadth and depth of the Disciplined Agile toolkit.

I agree with Kiron's comment. It could help.

As the basic building blocks of any process I think that ITTOs become confusing because they are a general case that tries to include every possible variation in any possible context. Fundamentally, they describe a beginning state, change, and end state but the specifics can be very different depending on the context. We usually think of things in terms of our own context, not the general case where not everything applies every time.

AI can have a wide range of potential uses such as:
- Grouping activities into main categories to create a taxonomy for your own business processes.
- Providing context to the basic process models such as what are the inputs, outputs, and best practices for a specific use case.
- Generating the code to model your own processes such as by using SYSML enabling analysis and optimization.

What do you mean with "simply them"? The ITTOs are tools that, as @Kiron said, we need to tailor to our needs. Furthermore, you can notice that several ITTOs are used in different processes.

If GenAI can be some way helpful? For sure! If you are in doubt about which ITTO to use, explaining well the context it can help you deciding which one suits best; as well if you don't know how to use that ITTO you can ask it how-to.

My recommendation is taking a closer look to both courses delivery for free by the PMI no matter both are related to generative AI only. You will find your answers there.

AI can definitely help identify the most critical ITTOs, develop a clear ITTO structure, and validate ITTOs. This can help overcome the usual pitfalls associated with ITTOs, from simple inconsistent naming conventions to inadequate documentation, and will surely expand scalability to the limit.

How can this be done? Considering today's high cost of AI, the solution could range from a hundred thousand to a multi-million dollar investment, but it should have at least the following capabilities:

- Creating a system to help humans effectively, efficiently, and accurately manage ITTOs. This can involve developing a system that can:
- Learn from existing data and patterns
- Identify and correct errors
- Provide real-time insights and recommendations
- Automate repetitive tasks
- Facilitate collaboration and communication among team members
