Should I apply before or after doing a course?

Hi All,

I'm ready to start my journey for the PMP certification but first I need to understand something.

I found a training company able to provide a 5 days training to kickstart my PMP specific knowledge and provide the necessary 35 hours that I need for my application.

When I try to apply for PMP I receive the request to add the course that I participated in for the 35 hours. This makes me think I should first do the training and then apply, but I'm worried about my eligibility.

I'd rather not waste a lot of money with the training if my application might not match the criteria.

Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you all

Currently there is no time limit between when you take the course and apply. If you are still gaining experience as a PM, the course can still help you through learning PM best practices.

I suspect a 5 day crash course won't give you as much time to digest the information however university courses typically have 3 hours of homework per week for ever hour of classroom study so it is a much larger time investment. A compromise might be to take the 5-day course as an overview and for credit, and then you can always take more classes or learn specific areas of interest later at your own pace. Maintaining a PMP does require continuous learning.

Davide, the 35 educational hours are a pre-requisite and part of the requirements to apply for the PMP so you should complete the course first before you apply. If you get auditied, you should provide a certificate of completion.
