MS Project and Shared Resources

Has anyone used the ability of MS Project to share resources across multiple projects? Second question has anyone experienced an issue where a project was inadvertently deleted before the resources assigned to the deleted project were removed. I have task associated to a resource from a project that was deleted and cannot be re-instated and would like to now remove those task. My question is how do I remove those resources. Every attempt at deleting the task results in a dialog box indicatig the task needs to be deleted within the sharer file, ie project plan.
