Hello everyone! With only two months to go I hope you’re getting excited for PMI® Global Summit 2024 in Los Angeles, California, USA, 18-21 September. Reflecting on my journey through the PMI Global Conferences, I've grown from a newbie attendee to a seasoned speaker. Here are some lessons I learned along the way:

When I first attended in LA 2018, I was both excited and nervous, not knowing what to expect. The experience was an eye-opener, introducing me to the vast world of project management and the amazing PMI community. The willingness of attendees, staff, and volunteers to welcome and help navigate the conference was remarkable. I quickly learned the importance of networking and stepping out of my comfort zone.

Meeting Kiron Bondale at the "Ask the Expert" booth in Philadelphia 2019 was another pivotal moment. Engaging in a valuable conversation about PMOs reassured me as I transitioned to a PMO leader position. Have you ever had a chance to meet your online connections in person at a conference? How did it impact your professional relationships?

Las Vegas 2022 marked a significant step forward for me. Attending with the PMI Northern Utah Chapter, actively supporting my local chapter added a new dimension to my experience. Joining the Leadership Institute Meetings (LIM) and global meetings balanced my learning on how to support my chapter while dedicating time to my professional growth.

By the time I attended the Atlanta conference in 2023, I was fully immersed in the experience. Catching up with old friends and making new ones was fantastic. My commitment to the chapter and the broader community was reinforced, highlighting the importance of ongoing professional development and networking.

Looking ahead to LA 2024, I'm excited to be speaking about PMOs and Diversity and Inclusion in an advanced session. It's a huge honor to be part of this conversation, especially seeing DEI recognized in such massive conferences. The title of my session is "Realizing the PMO Vision: Embedding DEI in the Core of Project Success."

Now it's your turn!

1. Are you planning to attend PMI Global LA 2024?
2. If so, what topics are you most excited to learn about or discuss?
3. What is your strategy for picking out sessions (i.e. -do you go to sessions that help you improve how you do your job as it is today? or do you attend sessions that can expand the functionality of your job?)

Let's continue the conversation by sharing our experiences and tips and tricks for getting the most out of PMI Global Summit 2024! We look forward to hearing from you!

In a world in constant transformation, where technology and challenges evolve at a dizzying pace, power skills and personal development become the keys to success.

That's why you choose the most important sessions: those that empower you and help you grow as an individual and professional.

In this VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) environment, developing power skills is essential to navigate uncertainty and take charge of your future.

These skills allow you to:

Know yourself: Discover your strengths, values and motivations to make decisions aligned with your purpose.
Communicate with impact: Express yourself clearly, concisely and persuasively to connect with others and promote your ideas.
Think strategically: Analyze complex situations, identify opportunities and develop effective action plans.
Manage your emotions: Manage stress, pressure and conflict in a healthy way to maintain control and resilience.
Lead with inspiration: Motivate teams, delegate tasks and create a collaborative and productive work environment.
Personal development, on the other hand, is a continuous journey of growth and self-discovery.

Thanks for the shout out, Mayte Mata-Sivera ! I wish I was able to attend this year's session but I can't justify the personal expenditure given my impending retirement - I'd rather use those funds for my New Year's getaway to the Algarve region of Portugal!

Congratulations on being selected to present at the conference - I'm sure it'll be a good turnout for such an important topic!
