Dear Community Members,

I am proud to announce that I passed my PMP examination on July 13, 2024. I am an ex army officer from the Indian Army and now settled in the US. Being raised in the army taught me leadership but I must admit that preparing for the PMP provided a new layer of appreciation for team spirit, coaching, mentoring, and always doing the right thing.

I spent about 6 to 8 weeks of prep time on the PMP. Towards the end of my preparation, I went for a boot camp with EdWel programs which solidified my learning on key areas including agile. I wanted to walk into the exam room with confidence so I made sure to study the ECO topics really well and used the exam reference material recommended by PMI for the PMP.  My sincere guidance for aspiring PMPs - It is an ocean of learning out there, so please be deliberate in your preparation but I do not recommend stretching it too long.

Additional point to remember - I understand that each set of questions is unique, but I observed that many questions from my set involved critical thinking around scenarios related to managing teams both in agile & as well as traditional project life cycle.

All the very best to fellow aspiring PMPs!

Congratulations Brian!

For candidates who are considering their PMP exam options, can you provide the thought process you went through to decide to do the exam at a center rather than using the online remote method?

Kiron,

Thank you! It was easier for me to decide to take the test at the Pearson center vs. at home because of the following reasons -

- My room that I use for my study/work exams etc is full of books and other stuff which would be too much for me to clear out to be ready for the proctor.
- My internet connection at times is spotty and I did not want to take a chance.

The experience at the Pearson testing center was seamless. I reached 30 mins before and went through the standard process - check in at reception, get locker, go through security check in before entering testing room. Staff was quite friendly.

Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know.
