We all perform daily routine task, like updating calendar and report to EVMS , validate invoices and payable transactions and review areas to hold team meeting or focus on followup. would AI  be able to perform daily tasks that falls under routine activities ?

Yes, AI can be trained to perform many routine project management tasks without human intervention. AI tools can automate activities like updating calendars, generating reports, validating invoices and transactions, scheduling meetings, and sending follow-up reminders. By learning patterns and preferences, AI can efficiently manage these tasks, allowing project managers to focus on more strategic aspects of their work. However, some human oversight is often necessary to handle exceptions, make judgment calls, and provide context-specific decisions.

Zakaria, AI can and will be able to perform such routine tasks making the PM’s work more efficient by focusing on value added activities but I would caution against leaving AI do it’s thing without verification from the PM. There should always be some sort of gate check to ensure AI is doing what’s it’s supposed to do.

AI tools might be capable of taking over such tasks but the accountability for the accuracy of the work remains with the PM so if an invoice is incorrectly paid, you would remain on the hook for the error.

My mantra for current Gen AI tools is "Don't trust, and do verify"!

This is making today and you do not need AI for that. This is automation and can be created with "no code" tools. For example, PowerApps suite of Microsoft. I am using that (and I programing that) from more than 20 years ago. Obviously in the begining PowerApps did not exists.

I completely agree on all the above. On oversight, verification, and accountability, I will share that I received an email from another employee recently where I could tell they used prompt AI, but didn't proofread it. It was so poorly written that I was embarrassed for them.

Adding to Sergio's comment about not requiring AI, in addition to no code tools, AI can also help write code to automate tasks. My coding skills are minimal, but as a PM if I can get the right people on my team, they can develop those automation routines faster with AI tools and much faster than me.

Thank you all for your comments and insights. It’s becoming clear that while AI and automation can be incredibly helpful, there’s also a risk if we rely on them too much without oversight.

Sergio Luis Conte , I’m really excited about how Power Apps can support our daily activities. Coming from a more traditional background, where I used to design workflows with MS Designer for SharePoint, it’s fascinating to see how these new tools are evolving.

AI can work as an assistant of PM and help on getting done daily pm task but can't be done without intervention or verification of PM. There are many times situational calls that PM needs to take which are not ideal and depends on many criteria which includes some out of box decisions which AI won't be able to do stand alone.
