The conversation about AI is everywhere, but I haven't seen many tangible, practical applications in the PM world for small businesses.  I'm curious if anyone has had any luck using AI to gain efficiencies, improve quality, automate processes, etc...  I can see a few uses, but they all require a pretty significant financial investment or seem more suited to much larger firms.

AI is a board term. We are using AI from more than 40 years ago in field like project management. Generative AI becomes popular in the last time because the new model published by google in 2017 that was the basement to create things like ChatGPT. So, you can use it for lot of activities related to project management. My recommendation is taking a closer look to PMI´s published about generative AI becaus you will find there lot of information and examples that will answer your question.

AI comprehends a large number of tools that you can use for Project Management in small businesses. Here are some examples: Cloud AI for consulting and management services, like Odoo; AI Projects Budget planner, CRM with AI, AI for risk management, AI for Data Analysis and Predictive Analytics, AI for Data Quality assessment and correction, and much more.

You're right that the conversation about AI is widespread, but its practical applications in project management for small businesses are not always apparent. However, it's important to note that the effectiveness of AI in project management isn't necessarily about the size of the business, but rather about how well project management best practices are implemented. Let's look at how AI can be applied in WBS, Risk Management, and Schedule:
1) Work Breakdown Structure (WBS):
1.1) AI can assist in creating more comprehensive and accurate WBS by analyzing historical project data and suggesting relevant tasks and subtasks.
1.2) Can help in automatically categorizing and organizing tasks based on project descriptions and requirements.
1.3) Can identify patterns and recommend optimal WBS structures for similar new projects.
2) Risk Management:
2.1) Identify potential risks that human managers might overlook.
2.2) Predict the likelihood and impact of risks based on various project parameters.
2.3) Can help detect early warning signs of potential issues.
3) Schedule Management:
3.1) AI can optimize resource allocation and task scheduling, considering multiple constraints and dependencies.
3.2) Predictive analytics can forecast potential delays and suggest proactive measures to keep the project on track.
