Khaleelah,
Your role in preparing for the steering committee meetings is crucial. I have presented to many steerco's and each one was different. Some ideas:

What does the sponsor expect? What do other steerco members expect? You need to find this out before.
Avoid surprises. If there are new developments, inform key steerco members beforehand.
Be short (best pitches were 1-pagers) and be prepared to deep dive on certain topics.
Offer topics to deep dive where steerco members can help, like providing resources, aligning/talk with customer, decide on options.
If showing a risk or issue be prepared to show solution options.

Good steerco's embed and contain project adversaries. If the sponsor does not have enough time for you, ask for a deputy sponsor.

Thanks Thomas for the insight. Actually we do already have one template. We have loads of information and we want to focus on the main salient items.I will take your advice in consideration.
But the way to project / display the information also matters to captivate your audience focus.

My advice is to focus less on templates and more on the key components that make Steering Committees successful.

- Send the agenda and slide deck a few days in advance. Make sure that key decisions are clearly communicated and understood beforehand. Align with relevant stakeholders (in particular, the sponsor) prior to the meeting.

- Set ground rules. Will decisions be made unanimously? Ensure everyone arrives on time and pays full attention to the presentations.

- Follow through on decisions and open items. Start the SteerCo by revisiting actions and risks from the previous meeting.

Once you've clarified these and any other relevant aspects, you can then consider the templates and tools that will support a successful outcome.

A big challenge is how you put everything in a 2 to 3 slides
