I'm really interested in obtaining a PMP certificate, but I don't know if I meet the requirements to take the exam. Here's a little about me and I'm hoping I can get an opinion whether I meet the certification requirements or what I need to do get certified. - Worked in the golf industry for the last 28 years. - For the last 12 years, I have been the General Manager of the golf club - In my 28 years, I have planned, coordinated and executed hundreds of golf tournaments, events, and banquets. - I have 2-year Business Diploma and 1-year Business Certificate - I do not have CAPM certification
I really appreciate the feedback. Saving Changes...
As you don't have a university undergraduate degree, you would need to show 60 months of experience leading projects over the past eight years. This doesn't mean that you have held the title "Project Manager", but you do need to show that you have performed a good percentage of the activities normally performed by a PM which are provided in the PMP Exam Content Outline (https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/..._lang_temp=en). The projects also need to sufficiently varied so managing the same project over and over again is unlikely to successfully pass an audit, and they do need to be reasonable in scope/size (e.g. a one person project likely would not pass an audit).
You'd also need to show 35 hours of project management training. It is possible that some of your business diploma or certificate curriculum might be applicable but you'd have to figure out which courses/course topics applied and figure out whether it is sufficient to hit 35 hours.
Good luck!

Matt, I totally agree with Kiron's feedback. In my opinion, and given the brief description you gave for your career journey, I do believe you qualify but you need to put your experience in the right order for the purpose of the application.
