Our local chapter has been thriving with our study group sessions, and I'm wondering if the rest of the community has been taking advantage of similar resources. Have you found study groups helpful in your test preparation? What make it special? Saving Changes...
I've worked with self-study groups both within a Chapter and within a company and in both cases I'd say that it comes down to what the members of the group are willing to invest in the discussions to make them worthwhile. If there is at least sufficient critical mass of engaged participants to properly prepare for each topic (e.g. ECO task or domain), to present it to the others and to challenge one another with practice questions and tips they have picked up then it can be helpful.
Probably working with study group would be faster and help deeper insight into topic but I used to learn myself- "learning by doing" including reading, online course and test, tests, tests (plus past experience). Whatever mistake I made, I was searching the reason, so I could better understand. It took several months but for sure I'm going to follow this path (What you read, you'll forget. What you see, you'll remember. What you do, you'll understand). Saving Changes...

Study groups are a real boon for those who need extra motivation in their studies. Be cognizant that the exam is changing constantly. Not dramatically mind you, but enough to make a study pathway from just a year ago obsolete. PMI reserves the right to "adjust" the mix of questions test-takers receive based on internal algorithms and market trends (thus the recent emphasis on Agile/Scrum). In short, use study materials that have been updated within the last year. Good luck in your studies! Saving Changes...
