Capital Project Accounting Software

Christopher Henry Assistant Engineer| Oneida County NY, United States

The department I work for is investigating obtaining a new software to help with capital projects. Ideally it would be use for operations as well. The hope is to be able to set the overall budget, then set budgets for each project phase. We would like to track invoices, and note encumbrances. I would appreciate any recommendations, or thoughts related to this topic.

If your company has implemented an ERP solution, most of the larger platforms do provide a module for project financials.

We currently are using New World from Tyler Technologies. The Commissioner of my department is not thrilled with how it handles the tracking of capital projects through the life cycle. I am wondering if using MS Project in conjunction with our ERP is the way to go.
