Hello everyone!

With less than 4 weeks to go before the start of PMI® Global Summit 2024 we’re now kick-starting our “Question of the Week Series” to help us get excited, engaged and most importantly, FUN!

Question #1: If you could give a first-time attendee one piece of advice, what would it be?

Your answers will benefit folks in the community who will be attending their very first PMI event, so please send us your comments! We look forward to hearing from you!

My one piece of advice would be to pace yourself.

There is so much to see and do at GS that it can be overwhelming and you don't want to burnout by the end of the first day. Review the agenda and take the time to plan which sessions you will attend leaving sufficient space in your calendar for networking and social events.

Kiron - thank you, that's such a great tip! I remember wanting to be everywhere all at once until I wore myself out. Always plan beforehand so you can allow yourself time to enjoy the moment.

Kimberly,
I can write a full post about this, some of my key points were already mentioned by Kiron.

1 - Prepare the agenda in advance and have a plan B: As Kiron mentioned, preparing the agenda is key. Some rooms fill up quickly, so it's a good idea to have alternative sessions in mind in case your first choice is full.

2 - Hydratation: Bring your own water bottle or coffee mug. Staying hydrated is key, especially during sessions. Having your own bottle or mug will keep you ready to absorb all the information and support a sustainable event :)

3 - Network: Take every opportunity to meet new people. Networking is a huge part of the experience, and you'll gain so much from connecting with others in the field.

Excellent tips, Mayte! My favorite is definitely carrying a water bottle and maybe a couple of snacks in your bag:-)
