The emergence of artificial intelligence poses both challenges and opportunities for Project Management Offices (PMOs). To adapt and take full advantage of the capabilities of this technology, PMOs must take a proactive and strategic approach. This involves identifying areas where AI can add value, developing AI-related skills and knowledge, establishing ethical and governance frameworks, and collaborating with artificial intelligence experts. By doing so, PMOs can position themselves as leaders in project management in the age of AI and contribute to the success of their organizations.

Hi Fabian,

I completely agree with your perspective. AI is indeed a monumental wave, and we must ride it.

Do you have any recommendations on how to systematically develop AI-related skills?

Hi Fabian! I think you put the idea of AI around Project Management well. It is very new and exciting. We should definitely assess on a project level how to implement AI and make sure we can optimize areas in our companies and use our resources better.

Matteo, definitely keep an eye out on seminars and podcasts coming out on AI, PMI offers some great courses for members for free.

Yes, based on PMI PMO volue ring, we should use AI tools to provide the better service for PMO's customer and to enhance PMO member's capability&skill in order to meet the challenges.

It is simple: roles as originally defined "are dead" with the use of generative AI. Just generative AI. I think the PMI is aware on that and it is taking actions about that.

I think PMO's should take the advantages of using GEN AI in some routine tasks like defining WBS, scheduling, filling forms (Project Charter, Collect requirements..), risk and probleme assessment, to help PMO to focus on strategic tasks, and promoting project best practices among companies
