Hello,
I recommend learning as you go and trying to seize an opportunity to assist or shadow one of the project managers for a while. This will help you understand the fundamental variances between theory and real-life project management. Additionally, I suggest reading, obtaining certificates, and participating in discussion groups to enhance your learning.
I hope that will help and good luck.
Regards, Saving Changes...
Well, if you start from "zero" point (and not able to get some mentoring) I could recommend getting some information about Project Management and activities during project lifecycle. Don't recommend reading huge books at the beginning- it's easy to stuck and get demotivated. Take small steps, observe your environment- what could be a project in your work, what questions would you ask, why something doesn't work, etc. Understanding the very basics will help you go through more advanced materials (where you may find answers on your questions). I also recommend from some easy certification or few of them, which can you prepare you better for PMI certification like CAPM (it's quite comprehensive for beginners). Take your time- knowledge has to be supported by experience and observation. It's not about memorising everything, rather about understanding.
Be also systematic and consequent- it's also crucial in Project Management as well in learning process.
You may also read some books, but start from something which layed the foundation under elements, methodologies and frameworks (e.g. Taiichi Ohno, Jeff Suterland) - these books helped me better understand some project managment aspects.
I can also highly recommend you the books about communication and relationships like "Leadership and Self-Deception" and Fierce Conversations". Belive me, whatever you know, it won't work in a company without proper communication and approach to the other individuals- it's team work.
Keep my fingers crossed and feel free to ask. Saving Changes...
