Dear Anonymous, resource allocation is the process and decision of allocating reources (people, facilities, machines, material) to a specific project. In real life, resources are not always available when needed. Resource loading ensures that resources needed by the activities will be available as and when required. Resource leveling can help project managers resolve overallocations by delaying or splitting up tasks. Hope this helps..! -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International

Resource allocation is the allocation (or promise) of a resource (by the resources owner) to a project for a period. The project manager can then use the resource within the level of the agreed allocation (for example by assigning tasks). Take a look at http://www.iplanware.com/blog/index.php/20...city-planning/.

Levelling is an automatic process, than often fails in the real world.
