Hello Community!

OK, we’re exactly five days to go before PMI® Global Summit 2024, yikes! Our fourth and final “Question of the Week Series,” is posted below:

Question #4: Packing for a short trip can be quite daunting and challenging, I for one, am not a fan. For instance, are you an over or under packer? Do you prefer carry-on or checking bags? Do you make an “essentials” list for your must needs? Ever forget something you really need, what did you do? Saving room for PMI swag, etc.….?

Your feedback will benefit folks in the community who may be attending their very first PMI event, or any event; so please share your best practices. We look forward to hearing from you!

I can totally relate to the packing challenge! I’m definitely an overpacker, but I’m trying hard to control myself this time. It’s so tempting to pack 'just in case'—what if the weather changes, or I spill coffee on my blouse? 😅 But I’m determined to keep it light this time. I never forget anything (at least I hope not), but to be safe, I make a list of essentials. Still, I know a carry-on won't be enough for me, so I’ll be checking a bag. Plus, I need space for PMI swag, right?

Hello Mayte - I too am an over-packer. Every time I prepare for a trip I tell myself, "You're not going to wear all of these clothes and shoes", yet I still seem to do so, LOL! I always have the same "checklist" that I keep in my suitcase ensuring all my essentials are not forgotten. My worst nightmare occurred on a trip last year when suddenly out of nowhere I woke up in the middle of night realizing I forgot one of medications that I need to take daily. I panicked and immediately called my doctor, of course after hours. Luckily the answering service relayed the information and she called me back within half an hour. Fortunately there was a pharmacy across the street from my hotel and she called in a script to cover the remaining days on my trip. I hope I never encounter that again!!

With one week left before the PMI Global Summit, now is the time to finalize your preparation. Focus on reviewing your agenda, packing essentials, and ensuring you have all necessary travel documents. Don't forget to finalize your networking strategy and prepare for both in-person and virtual engagement opportunities.
