Don’t you think we should provide an African version of project management in some areas in order for it to become successful?

Projects are unique in their own time, cost, quality requirements and where the project is implemented. In the African sense don’t you think some of the ideals need to be observed and evaluated in the cultural sense for them to be effective?

Yonatane, how do you think Project Management in South Africa is any different than project management in other areas?

In my opinion, Project Management basics are the same regardless where they are implemented and you just need to tailor the tools, processes and techniques to suit your specific project needs, and area cultural/other requirements!

Yonatane, please give an example of how project management ideals are failing to accommodate African cultural values. I'm not disagreeing with you, but I need a concrete example to answer your question.

Thanks for sharing, Yonatane. But can you be more specific: what sort of African version of project management do you have in mind?
