We have recently established our PMO and we are in need of a template that will show which departments will be working which project for each month of the year so we can coordinate our projects without causing too much strain on departmental resources. Any suggestions on a specific template?

I recommend you to use pmi infinity which will provide you with the information, it will depend on the accuracy of what you ask for.

Misty -

If the mapping is just at the department level, I'd suggest K.I.S.S. and just go with an Excel worksheet. If you do it with columns for project, department & month you could then leverage Excel's pivot table capabilities for reporting.

Another option is to use MS Project and create a simple schedule with each project reflected as a task with start/end dates, and then resources assigned representing the departments.

I hope if dogs ever take over the world, and they choose a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas.
