Dear PMI Community, I hope this message finds you well. I am new to the PMI platform and have three years of experience working in project management as a Project Coordinator.
Currently, I am looking to obtain my CAPM certification but feel a bit overwhelmed on where to begin the process. As a student and currently between roles, I am mindful of the financial investment required for the PMI course.
Unfortunately, at this time, I am unable to allocate the $350 fee. I would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations on how to get started with my CAPM certification journey, particularly any cost-effective resources or study strategies that have been beneficial to others. Thank you in advance for your guidance and support.
Kind regards, Coya G.
There are many cheaper online courses on Udemy. I suggest you take advantage of those resources, especially during promotions when discounts are available. I passed all my PMI-related certifications with a lot of help from online platforms like Udemy.

First I took.the Google Project Management Certificate thru Coursera. They say it's for six months. I finished it around 3 weeks cost me around 29. After I Finish Google gave me a 125 coupon to take the CAPM test. I studied from Andrew Ramadyal he has great material use his study material and CAPM simulator and past the test on 1/4/2024. After that Google sent me a 10 percent discount to take the PMP test. So I brought Andrew book for PMP test on Amazon studied from February to Julu use his PMP simulator for 2 months and pass the PMP test today.
For me For Coursera Google PM Certificate help me with the CAPM. I only paid for the test 175.
Cheers

As someone who recently passed the CAPM less that 45 days ago (August 2024), below are the steps I followed:
Udemy course by Joseph Phillips - https://www.udemy.com/course/capm-pmbok6/ This is how I studied everything. I watched the videos and took notes over a month and a half to two-month period. There's also a 10-question quiz at the end of each section. His explanations are really straightforward and easier to understand.
TIA Exams - Exam Simulators These are 2 practice exams that I took and they helped me TREMENDOUSLY with the exam. The creator of the simulator actually sat down and took the CAPM in 2024, which a lot of other teachers haven't actually done. A lot of his questions were very similar to the ones I actually saw on the test. He also includes a video explanation for each question,(along with the correct answer), for questions that you missed.
I highly recommend using both if possible – The Udemy course helped me learn the main ideas of the CAPM and the exam simulator helped me with the type of questions that were actually on the CAPM. I had to pay for both of them, but it wasn't a lot ($20 each with a coupon) and was very worth it. You really don't need anything else. And unless you are a book person, I wouldn't use the books unless you really need to read the content to understand. Plus if you are a student PMI member, the books are free! :)
Hope this helps! Q.

I took this as well and it really helped. The PMI course I enrolled at the time was based on PMBOK 6th Edition but it already transitioned to the 7th Edition when I took the exam
