If you are running a project management office, are you using the value ring methodology? If so, how is it going? If not, why not?

I actually attended a presentation by Ricardo Viana about the Value Ring methodology in a PMI Global summit long time ago. While we’ve used some of the concepts and information from it, I wouldn’t say we’re not using the methodology, for me was "one tool more" in my tool box to support the PMO

I think the value of the VR methodology is in the name. Identifying the desired benefits Nd value required and perceived by stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

I am very much looking forward to the result of the acquisition of PMOGA by PMI. So far, it is looking great!

Hi Mike, I'm not using it yet but am very keen to see how the methodology and the tool evolve. I became a member of the PMOGA community and PMI this year. I have been holding off on considering the PMO-CP cert until the dust settled after the acquisition of PMOGA by PMI. It was announced a week ago in the PMOGA community that PMI have now deprecated the VR tool, and the guide is being integrated with PMI Infinity. Some in the PMOGA community were surprised and dismayed that the online tool is no longer accessible, and it makes me wonder if this was communicated at all prior to removing it. That would be unfortunate but I've seen these sorts of missteps happen before in a change process! It appears though that generally, people (including myself) are excited to see how both the VR and PMO-CP are enhanced with this evolution.

Yes - I was quite excited to start using the tool. I understand the functionality might be made available in a spreadsheet format.

It will be interesting to see the PMO Practice Guide in December.
