During the project execution, the Director asks me to do some server expansion activity and at the same time there is a call from vendor regarding cable laying verification to be done. Which task should be taken care by me on a priority basis? Do I need to refer to the project plan in these cases or should I go as per the instruction of the director as he is senior? What to do if the the project plan is not available with me currently? Should I seek time from the director to check the project plan and then take a decision? Saving Changes...

There is no easy answer as cases will vary, but if you've set up your project governance and issue escalation properly the process to resolve such items will be there.
Generally I'd say the vendor tail shouldn't be wagging the dog - unless the vendor has a good case because this is on a critical path to delivering other agreed items their desire to task you should be treated with caution! Saving Changes...
