Observations after passing the PMP exam - In Person

I leveraged training from Edwel. The instructor and the supplemental testing simulator prepared me well for the actual exam. While none of the questions in the simulator resembled the actual questions for the PMP exam, the type of thought process required to answer questions in either environment was the same. The actual exam was tough but I felt reasonably relaxed due to the preparation from Edwel.

The Pearson VUE center I used in Bethesda, MD was very efficient. The staff and the equip all functioned well. The test was broken into three sections of 60 questions each. It was easy to mark questions for review. This is important because after you finish a 60 question section and you finish your review you cannot go back to those questions later. However, once you complete a section you can take a quick 10 minute break and the clock does not run during that time. Although I did not take the entire 10 minutes I found these breaks to be very useful and a quick drink of water refreshed me enough for the next round.

After the exam was over I received a printout of the preliminary pass or fail results from the Pearson VUE staff out in the main check in area. The results still had to be verified later by PMI but they were very quick about it. I received an email from PMI letting me know the results were now official.

The best advice I can give is read the question very closely and make sure you understand what it is asking you. The you should be able to hone in on the best choice. Good luck.

Congratulations Jim! The entire Edwel team is thrilled for your success and thank you for the kind review. Going into the exam relaxed and ready is crucially important to success on the exam. Great to hear that the Pearson exam center was efficient and high functioning as well. Taking the exam is stressful enough without any external disruptions added to the mix. Once again, congratulations and we are honored to be part of your success. All the best in your future endeavors.

James, great feedback, thanks for sharing with the community.

Just one minor comment: You wrote that "after you finish a 6 question section and you finish your review you cannot go back to those questions later". I believe this should be 60, not 6.

I received the same message so not necessarily. However since I took it at a testing center I got a preliminary printout that said I passed but I still had to wait for official result from PMI. Not sure what the online protocol is. I’ll be rooting for you though.
