Today project management is undergoing a massive shift, and AI is right at the center of it. For us project managers, AI is no longer just a buzzword – it’s actually making our work smoother, smarter, and more efficient.

Here’s how AI is helping us:

Automating Boring Tasks - Things like scheduling, sending reminders, and tracking progress can take up so much time. AI tools now automate all of this, freeing us up to focus on the real work.

Predicting Risks Early - AI can analyze past projects and highlight possible risks before they even come up – giving us time to handle them in advance. Imagine knowing a project delay is likely before it even happens!

Smarter Decisions, Faster - With AI analyzing tons of data in real-time, we get insights that help us make better decisions quickly – like how to allocate resources or which tasks need priority.

Improving Team Communication - AI-powered assistants or bots can send updates, answer common queries, and even help manage remote teams – making sure no one is out of the loop.

In short, AI is giving project managers like us a major boost, helping us save time and deliver better results. Of course, it doesn’t replace our expertise, but it’s definitely a game-changer in handling everyday challenges.

What do you think? How do you see AI playing a role in your project management experience?

I agree with you. Just let me say that AI is a board term. We are using AI in portfolio/program/project management since more than 40 years ago, sometimes without notice it. What are producing a break is the new model of generative AI. In this case, I think that roles like portfolio/program/project manager, business analyst, software developers "are dead on arrive" in the way they were originaly defined. I think the PMI is helping on that after seeing some deliverables like the three courses delivered for free.
