Hmmm is there any particular area you're most interested in? PM is a large field - if you could give us an idea of which areas you find most interesting we might be able to narrow it down for you.

I agree with Rebecca - why not do something based on the module you enjoyed the most?

Agree with Elizabeth and Rebecca. Just a thought - how about some people centric approaches/interfaces with Project/Program/Transformation which propels higher success in terms of benefits achievement

Hi,

Here are 10 ideas to consider. It all depends on your area of interest and resources available.

10. Focus on the practice of PM in a single industry (e.g. "study of PM in construction")

9. Research why some project organizations do better with projects (e.g. IBM is often considered a good company but there are not many details).

8. Research why projects fail in a given industry.

7. Interview award winning (e.g. PMI Fellows) and determine what they have done to become successful.

6. Read articles in PMI's journals to see what problems are being discussed.

5. Read the PMI Salary Survey - what factors actually explain WHY some PMs are paid more than others.

4. Read the PMI Pulse of the Profession document - are there any points that you strongly disagree with? If so, that could be a research project.

3. Investigate PMOs (project management offices): what qualities make them effective?

2. Do a detailed study of a single, large project like building a large building or a project at a Fortune 500 company.

1. Research the history of project management and suggest future directions the field can grow.

I see where one young boy has just passed 500 hours sitting in a treetop. There is a good deal of discussion as to what to do with a civilization that produces prodigies like that. Wouldn't it be a good idea to take his ladder away from him and leave him up there?
