Hi Aqeel,

In my opinion, spiritual intelligence (SQ) is an overlay over traditional measures of intelligence. It represents a perspective that grounds itself in conventional forms (of intelligence) but accepts the existence of a “deeper meaning and dimension” behind oneself, others, and the world around us.

It has a focus on (for example):
[1] Inner Awareness (e.g., mindfulness and meditation)
[2] Compassion and Empathy (e.g., emotional intelligence put into practice)
[3] Existential Thinking (e.g., systems thinking—the interconnectedness of all things)
[4] Discernment (e.g., ethical decision making)

Does SQ have the ability to impact project success? In my book—yes, for example, it can make you mindfully aware of “undercurrents and needs” in your project that exist beyond process considerations. It also promotes personal growth as you constantly self-evaluate, creating an internal compass for growth.

I’m not saying that one needs SQ to have these characteristics; instead, it provides another dimension to execute these characteristics for the benefit of your projects.
