I'm doing the reverse. Given my retirement, I'm planning to let a number of my certifications lapse as the benefits no longer justify the ongoing costs. A couple of years from now, I expect that the only cert I will still have will be the PMP, albeit in its retired status.

Hi Sir,
That's quite fair... You should be enjoying your retirement
I might take the PMO-CP course; I'm not sure, yet, if I'll do the certification.

PMO-CP - the upcoming credential for anyone running, setting up or enhancing a PMO. The PMI PMO Practice Guide and the newly branded PMO-CP credential with accompanying new exam are on the verge of being released (rumor has it at the end of this month).
(I already have it, but thought I'd mention it for those reading this thread.)

Thank you, you as well.
To be honest, I've already completed/achieved??? enough certifications for my known needs. Useful knowledge and practical application is great, but if a certification isn't important for my career goals or to a current or potential employer, it's just another piece of paper. I'll be learning new things all year long, and I'll be very selective when considering future certifications.

I agree, Aaron. There is no point in going for a certification unless it elevates you in your role in the eyes of those who are watching and have influence. The knowledge required to gain a certification is important, though, but again, it has to apply to your current or future role.
In the case of the new PMI PMO certification, anyone running a PMO should really take any available training whether they write the exam or not. They may find that it is such a signficant mindset change, that the application of the knowledge will help them restructure their PMO to better meet the requirements of the organization. "One size does ot fit all", is the message and even more than that "Each PMO is unique" is an overriding focus, along identifying the important stakeholders the PMO services, identifying the value and outcomes they seek using some structured approaches, and then setting up the PMO to deliver what is required.
