I'm planning to take the CAPM exam in 2025, and I'm confused about which literature I should study. Can a PMI instructor give me advice on which literature I should read to best prepare for the exam? Would it be enough to read and study the PMBOK 7th edition?

Bianca, for the CAPM, here is what I suggest you do:

1) If you'd want to take a course to fulfill the 35 educational hours then check Joseph Phillips courses on Udemy. He is a PMI ATP, a great instructor and his courses are self-paced and very affordable.

2) Besides PMI Study resources and guides (Exam Content Outline in details, PMBOK 7th Edition and Process Groups Guides), I highly recommend you purchase Rita Mulchay’s CAPM Exam Prep book, I think 5th edition is the latest, but double check. This is one of the best resources for exam preparation.

3) After you are done, purchase the Simulator Package through PM Prep Cast and practice as much as you can. This is a great CAPM simulator and resource for questions that will help prepare you well for the exam.

Hope this helps - Good Luck!

I recommend you check out David McLachlan on YouTube and also on Udemy. In addition to the resources i mentioned, study/reday the actual PMBOK guide.

Oh I almost forgot about Ricardo Vargas on YouTube, play all of these videos while your in commute, or while on a break.

Another best source is Study Hall from PMI, and PM Wars. Play all sorts of project management games, it'll be easy everyday, and use what I call "list of terms". It's an excel document you can draft with the the following columns while studying/reading "Term; Explanation; How to use it in a sentence; Reference"

All the best.

Thank you for your support and guidance! I'm wondering if there is a big difference between Rita Mulcahy's CAPM Exam Prep book 5 Edition (Aligned with PMBOK seventh edition) and the Rita Mulcahy's CAPM Exam Prep book 2 edition (aligned with PMBOK fourth edition)?

Note that I'm planning to take the CAPM this year, in 2025. Thank you!

I have failed the CAPM 2x already and will be taking my 3rd and final attempt May 18th...Any suggestions? I'm new to PM and I've taken the Joseph Phillips online course. It seemed like it was old material...Not sure if there is a newer one?! I also purchased a course on PMI as well. I'm kinda at my wits end here :-/

Before going through PMBOK 7th edition, Suggest to please read ECO and understand the tasks and enablers to give an idea what type of questions are expected. Prepare your own notes the way you want to explain to others and make you understand. Then go for any simulators. Don't get overwhelmed with the too much content available
