What are your thoughts on the most important skill to acquire in 2024 and why?
From my side.. In an increasingly complex and competitive project landscape, the ability to negotiate effectively has become a cornerstone of successful project management. This year, I believe that negotiation is the most crucial skill I can develop to enhance our project outcomes.
What about you?

I agree Fabian. Strategic adaptability is paramount this year. It demands resilience – the capacity to bounce back from setbacks and thrive in uncertainty. This, combined with a clear vision and agile approaches, allows us to navigate disruption, integrate emerging technologies, and ensure projects consistently deliver value aligned with organizational goals.

Can we truly "master" a PM skill? Given the uniqueness of each project's context, while we might excel applying a given skill to one project we might still have room for improvement in another.

As such, perhaps the focus should be on identifying the skill or skills we wish to improve but recognize that mastery is not achievable...

I find all the comments above contain the important skills. I would add also artificial intelligence on two levels: usage of AI in the day to day work as project manager and evaluation of the added value (yes/no) of a artificial intelligence on a specific project.

Shea I fully support leveraging AI to enhance educational access. AI-powered translation can significantly expand the reach of educational materials beyond Spanish and Portuguese, making them accessible to a global audience. We will ensure all translations adhere to copyright regulations. Thanks!
