Insight:

AI and Augmented Reality (AR) are reshaping project management by enabling:

#Real-time Data-Driven Decisions: AI-powered analytics provide instant insights, reducing delays in decision-making.
#Immersive Planning and Monitoring: AR visualises complex project data, enhancing clarity for teams and stakeholders.
#Enhanced Risk Mitigation: AI identifies potential risks early, while AR simulates scenarios to test solutions effectively.
#Global Collaboration: AR creates virtual spaces for teams to collaborate as if they’re in the same room, bridging geographical barriers.

@Poll Question:

How impactful do you think AI and AR will be for the future of project management?

#Game-Changing: They will redefine project management.
#Helpful, but not critical.
#Useful only for specific industries.
#Overhyped and unnecessary.

Overhyped while helpful in some circumstances.

There are use cases where GenAI is definitely helpful. Regrading AR, not so much in my corner of IT PM. I can't speak for others, but there's still a lot of what sounds like 'overhype'. I have nothing against imagining the possible and trying to achieve it, but some of the sales pitches still sound like a solution searching for a problem. When it comes to project schedules, if you have the data in a good tool, you don't need GenAI or AR to get information, and the tool is usually easier to update. Maybe this will change, eventually.

I have found GenAI helpful for identifying risks and potential mitigations, but I've found that you still have to have conversations about risk (which is the most challenging part about risk management). Actually, I have found GenAI to be extremely helpful when I need to prime the pump and get information from stakeholders. It can speed up the process to give them GenAI generated user stories, use cases, risks/mitigations, etc., as long as they validate them. GenAI can't know everything about your business, but it can come up with things that individuals might not have considered. You might not keep all of them, but it can improve quality and comprehensiveness of the documentation. The risk is that the stakeholders will say, "This looks good" and not do anything more with it.
