Hello All,
Are there any methodologies, tools or ways to better manage a project by using Business Intelligence tools so it will help the employees who manages it, to better predict, or at least make sure, the project will successes?

We are currently focusing on projects that deals in development of some kind (hardware, software, system and so on), and not projects like implementing a new software like PLM in the company.

We are also using OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) as our BI tool and Microsoft Project as our Project management software.

And a few clarifying questions:
Can information about manpower, deadlines, budget and so on indicate if your current project will be successful or not?

Do you need to use data from past projects as well?

Can a BI tool be enough, or do we need some sort of Analytics or big data system for that?

If you have any kind of information, books, article, case studies and so on, it will help a lot.
Thank you in advance,
Doron.

Dear Doron,

We use a tool called "www.projectmanager.com".

It can help recording the budget, resource/manpower allcoation. timesheet recording, project planning, milestones etc.

Though we do a lot of analysis manually.

Any tool will be a successful tool only if the users use it with the best interest. Hence implementing the same and bringing it into practise is equally important.

This is really interesting.

I am also looking for ways to do analysis for certain areas in my project. For this I am currently learning and applying R programming language.
Yes, to predict it better historical data is of prime importance.

There are many freeware tools also available online.
