What are the essential first steps for those looking to pursue a career as project managers in the UK construction industry?

As a new business owner, I am trying to establish what industries I would like to work with and what is needed from me in order to do so. For example, do I need any permits or licences? Do I need a qualifying course? Etc.

You might want to contact folks in your network who work for firms in the UK construction industry to see what requirements they have of PMs they work with. It is possible that they might require PRINCE2 certification and might have expectations on general or liability insurance.

Tiago, since this is a country-specific matter, I strongly recommend reaching out to your local PMI chapter for further advice. Additionally, as Kiron mentioned, PRINCE2 is more widely recognized in the UK compared to PMP.
