Many organizations focus on leveraging AI for efficiency, automation, and data-driven decision-making. Yet, technology alone doesn’t guarantee success. The real measure of a project’s impact isn’t just technical excellence—it’s the transformation it brings to the people and organizations involved.

As a project manager, I see AI as a transformative tool that should be intentionally integrated rather than passively adapted to. Organizations that merely react to AI advancements risk falling behind, while those that lead with a strategic vision leverage AI to drive efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage.

AI is just another example of the adage "A fool with a tool is a more dangerous fool". People & process trump tools in nearly all cases.

That a great question and my view is it's a bit of both.

While we are certainly adapting to AI's rapid advancements, there's a growing awareness of the need to guide its development with purpose and vision.

We must consider how to align AI with ethical principles and societal benefits actively.

What do you think are the most critical areas where we should focus our efforts to ensure AI serves the greater good?"

The answer to almost all PM-related questions: it depends.
I sometimes compare AI to the introduction of emails in the 1990s. It will become a general habit, asset, or threat and be adapted to many uses and areas, including project management. Some will get accustomed to it later, and AI will evolve and improve.
Can you trust AI? No.

AI’s integration into project management should be a balance between adaptation and leadership. While we inevitably adapt to evolving AI capabilities, true success lies in proactively guiding its implementation with a clear purpose and vision. Organizations that merely react to AI may gain short-term efficiency, but those that strategically integrate it—aligning AI with business objectives, ethical considerations, and human-centric decision-making—will drive real transformation.I believe one of the most critical areas of focus should be ensuring AI enhances human capabilities rather than replacing them.
