Could you share the career path for a Project Manager in the organizations you’ve been part of? Is it formally established? In my case, it is not formally defined. There are Project Leaders, Project Managers, and, until recently, Program Managers, but there is no documented path outlining the progression. I’d love to hear how it’s structured in your experience.

Very good question

I'm currently a student, so I haven't worked for an organisation in that position yet, but from what I've learnt, the career path for a Project Manager may be very diverse. Some firms have a clear, planned progression from Project Coordinator to Project Manager to Program Manager, while others are more flexible, allowing workers to advance in the role based on experience and talents rather than a fixed hierarchy.

Hi Tanya, that's a great observation! It's impressive that as a student, you're already thinking about career paths. Understanding how organizations structure their progression can definitely give you a big advantage when you start working. Knowing how to climb the corporate ladder, as you say, is very valuable. Keep up the good work!

It's interesting how organizations structure project management roles. At my previous company, the path wasn't clear-cut either. It felt like building your own Papa's Pizzeria , where you start with the basics and learn as you go. No formal recipe, just experience shaping your career. I'm also curious to hear about established career paths and how others have navigated this.
