Career Change to Project Management?

Career change from i.e, Accounting & Finance to Project Management has been a challenge for some especially if they do not posses PM skills of more that one year, what advice and information can your give to someone so enthusiastic about making this change to PM? Is a qualification in PM needed for the change to be possible?

Initaiting process/Planing process/Excuting process/Monitoring-control process/ final closing process *which is the desision making for career change.
