A key challenge for me as a PM is prioritization to business impact. Sometimes folks have "shiny object syndrome" where they want to align the team's activities with whatever is a flashy initiative, but will deliver no big impact in the long run. It's important to keep people focused on our big rocks/goalposts and avoid frittering away energy by prioritizing un-impactful things.

The most critical challenges for is the situation of having to balance the customer demands with internal process adherence that can prevent you from meeting customer's demands. Especially when the internal stakeholders focus more on meeting their own KPIs irrespective of the situation around the project managers.

Hence, the project manager needs to build a negotiation skills and prioritise their tasks to level-up with all stakeholders and not also overwhelm themselves.
