Help. How is the EPMO Program Manager Role different than the EPMO Project Manager aside from the former manages the overarching totality of the multiple related projects? I thought I understood it, but I'm reading conflicting information. Some sources state the Program Manager is a member of the org Sr. Leadership team and is related to operations and benefits realization (ongoing) whereas, as we all know, Project Managers have a start date, finish date then roll off.  Intuitively, Program Managers SHOULD be overseeing PMs who are managing the related, smaller projects.  In my world, the Project Manager is expected to drive the overall program effort and the smaller related projects which I know is an obvious issue.  Thanks in advance.

There is no standard model applied by organizations when it comes to these titles or their scope of responsibility. In general, a PgM role would have responsibility for a single large or a couple of small/mid-sized programs. The PMs working on that program's components may directly report to the PgM but may not depending on the organization's reporting structures. And the senior of the PgM relative to the leadership team really depends on the organization's PM maturity and their organization structure.
