Project management methodologies are selected based on project needs and characteristics. Agile suits flexible projects, while Waterfall works well for projects with clear requirements. Choosing the right methodology improves performance and helps achieve project goals efficiently.

It depends. Most of the projects that I work are done with the waterfall methodology. However, for projects that involve IT development we almost always switch over to Agile.

lean heavily into a Hybrid approach, as it delivers the best of both worlds for complex delivery:
  • Waterfall elements are used upfront for high-level governance, budgeting, structural compliance, and defining clear milestones.
  • Agile frameworks (like Scrum or Kanban) are used at the execution level to manage the actual development, track team velocity, and quickly pivot based on technical reality or shifting constraints.
The Rule of Thumb: Plan with the predictability of Waterfall, but execute with the flexibility of Agile.
