So far that has been the case, but just like as a child grows up they can surpass the accomplishments of their parents, AI could eventually evolve to surpass or no longer require human intelligence.
One example of this is the gaming AI models which rather than being trained on the human strategies for winning games like chess were provided the objective and the basic rules and trained themselves to be able to beat grandmasters.
AI is a creation of human intelligence, designed to mimic reasoning, learning, and problem-solving. However, unlike humans, AI lacks true understanding, emotions, and consciousness. It processes data and patterns but doesn’t “think” independently. It’s a powerful tool, but human intelligence remains the driving force behind its evolution.

I am working with IA from 1981. From 1989 I am researching, with others, about to simulate consciousness using AI and in the last time supported with quantum computing. The key things to answer your question is to define what definition of intelligence you will take. There is not a consensus in the scientific community. For example, in recent articles, neuro scientist demonstrate that all related to different types of intelligence (eg: emotional intelligence) are totally wrong, they do not exists. The end point is: IA is based on a key pillar: human in the loop. Then, human being must be always there. Saving Changes...
